My parents are voracious readers. They have read a lot of books and still keep reading it!During my childhood days we did not have a television(we got it when I was in the 2 standard say 1984)so the only means of entertainment in the evening or night was reading books or listening to classical and movie songs.
It seems that as a kid I used to read books;keeping the book upside down :).I remember I used to read comic strips that used to come in the weekly magazine "Sudha" Infact, my brother and I used to religiuosly tear all the strips, separate them and had created a small bookelt :).I used to love "putani putti"
We had a small library behind our house(it was rented by us) where I used to read "Tinkle",Dinnakondu kathe","Famous Five","Enid Blyton".
Myparents as I said were voracious readers and added to it my father was a good dramatist too.So we had a good amount of collection of books. In my school too we had a "library period"which I used to make good use of.There I started reading "Nancy Drew, attempted to read Mills and Boon(hated every bit of it though),"Hardy Boys ","Arthur Canon Doyle"(attempted but failed to understand it). Most of these books I read was because of sheer peer pressure. You know this was a craze. If you don't read "Archies" in your 8 or 9 standard, you were considered "a fool".
Then one day my mom introduced me to "Triveni" and eminent writer in Kannada. This marked my journey to Kannada literature and read most of her works(around 20 out of 24 books)That was a good exposure I got. Then the fun started.I took up English Literature for my graduation and got a good amount of exposure or peep into that literature too.
One of my lecturers Prof C Naganna(for whom I was his favourite student) advised me to read both kannada and English literature simultaneously so that our knowledge grows.
All these years reading was fun and a time where I would spend for myself.Because my Professor told, like a very good student,I started reading and was introduced "S L Byrappa's "novels. His first novel i read was "Dharmashri" and wow! what a novel it was!! Then I read his "Doora Saridaru" where he his location was Maharaja's College(where I studied) and then I fell in total love with this guy.He started haunting me;his ideas, ideologies were out of the world.I started really enjoying Kannda literature so much that I used to forget that I had exams!
I remember my mother scolding me for reading novels late night instead of preparing for exams.I used to feel bad and go to sleep! My mother was not aware that I was very naughty and I used to read the novel under the bedsheet with a torch on!!!!!! All this was fun and some amount of learning too.
Years passed got married and started the married life.Kid,Dogs,In-laws career forgot about reading all through the years! I used to always think only if I get some time to read! Either it did not happen nor I attempted! The desire became so much it started haunting me!
Now finally,my affair with the books started all over again. Now I feel I am doing something worthwhile.

the arrival
A rose is a rose is a rose;I don't know who said this but it came true when I saw the rose in my hands on 6 August at around 10:10 in the morning. The colour of the rose was unique a beautiful blend of pink and white with lots of hair on the head???!!!??? Yes, it had hair on it's head and that is my cute little niece"Bhuvana". The divine feeling I got from holding her, can't express those feelings.
"Bhuvi",I wish her to live the fullest and will become a good citizen and a successful career woman!!! All the best my darling!
